Basil Hayden the son of Lewis Hayden and Mary Dant is also still remembered for his eccentricity Basil Hayden. 

Swore he would never leave his room if Lincoln won the presidency and he kept the promise and spent half a century inside four walls of his home, the Lewis Hayden home is still standing at Greenbrier where he died, having amassed a fortune.  

An article at the time of his death reads, the home of Basil Hayden, the eccentric is still standing outside Bardstown near Woodlawn. This was original home of Lewis Hayden and his wife, Mary Dant. After Mary’s death in 1879 her single sons continued to live here.
